Bob Zentz Midwest Tour starts this week!

Two-week sweep touches people and places in four states starting October 22

October 19, 2008 -- Virginia minstrel Bob Zentz embarks this week on a RARE musical journey into the Mystical Midwest, for a series of Concerts and Live Radio Performances.

The tour, which includes an appearance on XM Radio's "Folk Stage with Rich Warren," features radio broadcasts and house concerts in Illinois, Iowa, Ohio and Pennsylvania -- see below for full schedule.

"If you know anyone in these towns who wouldn't like a cozy evening of song and storytelling, with lots of chorus singing, and a twist of history, humanity and humor," says Zentz, "PLEASE ... do not forward this link to 'em!"

Zentz will bring his collection of songs, old and new, about people, places and times gone by, as well as dozens of the usual and unusual "unplugged" folk instruments.  A collector of stories in verse, a teller of "the tales behind the songs," and a commentator on the ecology of the "human spirit," Zentz is a scholar of the evolution of "homemade music."

The concerts will present a smorgasbord of contemporary, traditional and original songs, tunes and chat, linked by this "folk-geezer's" philosophic perspective, thematic logic, and a strong sense of history, humanity and humor.  Performances involve the audience, creating a spirit of community through shared choruses and related ideas.

From traditional Celtic tunes and ballads to science fiction songs, and sea chanteys from tales of "old timers and old rhymers," to poetry set to music, each show is a unique testimony to Bob's vast repertoire and varied personal interests.

And sure -- Bob Zentz sings some songs he writes, too, but that just 'cause he couldn't fine 'em anywhere else!

Bob's original songs, tunes and poetry settings are performed and recorded by a variety of artists and groups around the planet.  The veteran folk performer, music shop manager, educator, broadcaster, folk club founder and festival organizer has spent a lifetime learning, teaching and singing "the music of the people."
